In the present era of climate change warnings and carbon footprint calculations, Omarno is motivated to bring the Architectural and Design Industry beautiful sustainable materials.
The Omarno Palm Panels are made from coconut shell. This material is an unused industry by-product that Omarno Palm Panels incorporate into durable architectural surfaces. These exquisite, handmade palm panels are produced from a completely biodegradable and renewable resource.

The variation from light to dark chip colour is achieved by processing the coconut fruit at different stages of ripening.
Unripe coconut fruit shell achieves a lighter coloured chip whereas the deep chocolate chip is achieved when the fully ripened coconut shell is used.
The chips surface is another element of design. This can be left with a natural texture or can be highly polished. The natural colours bring spaces to life, with the main colours being (left to right, by row):

The three dimensional designs are grouped into six fundamental designs. These designs are (left to right, by row):

Omarno’s unique invisible seam innovation provides a continuous flow of texture that is easily installed. Some designs' edges interlock into the next and with other designs. Chips are inserted once the panel is installed to link the pattern from piece to piece. This allows the pattern to flow continually, making it impossible to see where one board stops and next starts. Omarno’s Palm Panel is the natural choice for the environmentally conscious designer.

The different backing options have been developed to give multiple design and installation alternatives:

The coconut chips can be stained with traditional wood stains. Depending on the installation requirements, the three-dimensional / chip designs can be left in a natural state but it is recommended to be finished with a lacquer or epoxy resins, as these surface finishes add additional chip stability and moisture protection.

Collaboration with the World famous grout and adhesive company Mapei of Italy, who have been making adhesives since 1937, has resulted in Mapei developing suggested adhesives and grouts at their Italian laboratories that are suitable for Omarno Palm Panels.

The adhesive and grouts are available internationally at www.mapei.com
Should your installation require particular fire ratings this is also possible, as Class 0 and 1 can be achieved with Omarno proprietary treatment during manufacturing.

Omarno Palm Panel meets both:

The placement of the coconut chip is one of the fundamental components of the finished design.
The placement of the coconut chips for the smooth designs is a form of art and is achieved by hand placing coconut chips either vertically or horizontally onto the plywood in distinctive patterns.
Once the coconut chips are in place on the plywood, which serves as a backing, resin filler is then applied, filling and securing each chip and giving the Omarno Palm Panel its solid surface and colored backdrop.
Alternatively, no filler is added as for three-dimensional finish, which retains the natural and textured surface.

The Palm Panel Ranges make a variety of interior applications possible, for example:
